Today, I'm introducing a piece that proves you don't need a rainbow to create visual dopamine: "Monochromattica."
The Inspiration
"Monochromattica" is a study in pure contrast. I wanted to see what would happen if I removed color from the equation and focused entirely on light, texture, and reflection.
I started with a brilliant Silver Foil Cardstock base—the ultimate reflector. Instead of covering it with brights, I used a strict palette of Black, Grey, and White acrylics.
Small but Mighty
This piece is a "tiny treasure." It is a 4x4 inch decorated frame, matted down to a 3x3 inch opening.
Because it is small, it feels like a little jewel. The silver foil acts like a mirror, catching the light in the room, while the black and white swirls create a deep, swirling depth. It’s elegant, modern, and perfectly sized for a desk, a bookshelf, or a gallery wall filler.
It turns out, removing the color doesn't remove the energy. It just concentrates it.
